Heathrow is Europe’s busiest international airport and gateway to the UK, connecting to 194 destinations worldwide in 82 countries. In 2018, the airport carried 80 million passengers and in 2017 was awarded the Skytrax Global Airport’s ‘Best Airport in Western Europe’ for a third year running. Also in 2018, Heathrow extended their long list of achievements, by recording record passenger numbers in January, and winning the 'World's best airport shopping' award at the 2018 Skytrax World Airport Awards.
With a business profile of 34%, and 72 million ABC1 passengers, Heathrow boasts an impressive audience of business and upmarket leisure passengers, providing an ideal environment for delivering the power of influence. Heathrow’s business travellers are financially astute – over a quarter have savings and investments of over £250,000 – and tech-savvy – 91% own a smartphone and 73% a tablet.

Destinations
Heathrow is the only UK airport to provide direct flights to all of the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) nations, and only UK airport to offer direct flights to key BRIC destinations Shanghai, Mumbai and Sao Paulo. Passenger increase of emerging markets in the Middle East (+16.9%) and Asia (+3.2%) have acted as strong driver of Heathrow’s record 2016 year of 76 million people.

Winner of the prestigious SkyTrax World’s Best Airport for Shopping award in 2016 for the seventh year in a row, Heathrow offers an unparalleled retail experience. With more than 340 retail and catering outlets, including premium brands such as Mulberry and Gucci as well as high street favourites Zara and Cath Kidston, Heathrow truly sets the benchmark for airport retail. Heathrow has achieved its best ever quarterly “Airport service quality” passenger satisfaction scores, for services including retail areas and pop-ups. Following a year of investments in improving services at the UK hub airport, a record 84% of passengers (15.3 million) rated their Heathrow experience as either “excellent” or “very good” in last quarter of 2016. Since then, Heathrow has achieved 15 consecutive record breaking months for passenger numbers, preserving its status as the UK's busiest airport.
