Overview
Edinburgh Airport is the UK’s fastest growing airport, boasting an impressive 13.4 million passengers in 2017, an 8.6% increase on last year. It is the UK’s fifth busiest airport in terms of passenger numbers, and Scotland’s busiest airport. The city not only draws business passengers for being the UK’s second largest financial hub, but also draws leisure passengers via its reputation for arts and culture with popular events such as the annual Edinburgh Festival. In 2018, Edinburgh Airport has continued their trend of breaking records, by achieving their busiest ever January and February, with 837,542 and 846,502 passengers passing through their doors respectively. Additionally, Edinburgh Airport became the first airport in Scotland to achieve an 'Autism Friendly Award' in recognition of the accessible and supportive environment created for autistic passengers.

Edinburgh is an important hub for domestic business travel – three of its top five destinations are major British airports: Heathrow, Gatwick and Birmingham. 58% of the airport’s flights are now international, with new direct flights to Helsinki in Finland and Shannon in Ireland.
